Accessibility and Disability Resources

Cassie Thompson, Assistant Director for Operations, in the office of Accessibility and Disability Services

Creating an environment in which people with disabilities feel valued and respected is critical to the mission of UMBC. As a community we seek to build an inclusive workplace in which faculty, staff and students work and learn to their full potential. Below are some resources:

  • Requesting Accommodations. The Office of Accessibility & Disability Services (ADS) assists with employment-related requests for disability-based accommodations. The process for requesting accommodations is here.
  • Accessible Parking. Accessible parking is located throughout the campus, and our meters for paid parking are accessible as well. Faculty who use accessible parking with a state-issued placard or license plates must register with Parking Services. For more information click here.
  • Navigating UMBC with a Disability. This map highlights accessible building entrances, disabled parking locations and wheelchair accessible routes.
  • Digital Accessibility. Click here for resources on creating accessible web-based course materials.
  • Disability Accommodation Guidelines for Faculty. Click here for a summary of important information for faculty regarding accessibility and student disability accommodations.
